The Paris transport union introduces a three-day ticket to combat air pollution due to high ozone levels

The ozone level in the air has reached a peak value in recent days, creating special health risks in the metropolitan Paris region. Experts warn that ozone is particularly active at high temperatures and can cause respiratory problems and other health issues. Children, the elderly, and people with respiratory diseases are especially vulnerable.

The transport union hopes that with the advantageous anti-pollution ticket, many daily passengers and residents will give up their cars and use public transport more. This aims to reduce pollution levels in the region and promote environmental protection. The measure applies to all types of public transport in greater Paris.

At the same time, health authorities recommend avoiding physical exertion outdoors on hot days and, if possible, staying in the shade or air-conditioned spaces. Currently, a heightened alert level due to heat and air pollution is in effect for 17 departments of the region. Slight improvement in the situation is forecast for Friday, so the warnings will be gradually lifted.

Île-de-France Mobilités is working closely with environmental and medical services to ensure the protection of the population while simultaneously promoting environmental awareness. Previously, the transport union has already applied similar measures during elevated pollution levels to improve air quality. The current offer is also intended as a signal in favor of sustainable transport in the region.

In addition to reducing transport emissions, it is recommended to use urban green spaces and drink plenty of water to mitigate the effects of the heat wave. Authorities call on citizens to carefully monitor warnings and act responsibly. The pollution levels will be closely monitored to introduce additional protective measures if necessary.
