Paris – 13.06.2026: In the very heart of Paris, at the renowned Jeu de Paume museum, the long-awaited exhibition “Fragile Beauty” opens on June 12, 2026. More than 300 photographs from the impressive collection of Sir Elton John and David Furnish will be presented until September 27, 2026. This collection, which comprises more than 7,000 works, is considered one of the largest and most important private photographic collections in the world.

The exhibition, which was initially shown at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London from May 2024 to January 2025, was specially adapted for the Jeu de Paume premises. It is divided into five thematic sections highlighting key aspects of the human experience: desire, fashion, fame, reportage, and the search for identity. Among the photographers featured are prominent names such as Robert Mapplethorpe, Diane Arbus, Irving Penn, Ai Weiwei, and Nan Goldin. The latter is represented by a monumental installation of 149 photographs from the “Thanksgiving” series.

Sir Elton John began collecting photographs in 1991 and shares this passion with his husband David Furnish. Their collection covers works from the 20th and 21st centuries, which are considered definitive in the history of photography. The “Fragile Beauty” exhibition celebrates more than three decades of collecting and reflects the personal taste and unique vision of the two collectors.

The photographs were carefully selected to explore the interplay between strength and vulnerability in human nature. They tell stories about the complexity of life and the diversity of human experiences. Visitors can expect a visual journey through the development of modern and contemporary photography that is both aesthetically appealing and profound.

Jeu de Paume, a museum with a rich history in the center of Paris, provides the perfect backdrop for this exhibition.
