NBA Finals: New York Knicks secure second victory in San Antonio over the Spurs with Victor Wembanyama

San Antonio – 06.06.2026: The NBA Finals series between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs reached an intense level in game two. The Knicks secured a victory on the opponent’s court with a score of 108:105, increasing their lead in the series to 2-0 in a best-of-seven format. French star player Victor Wembanyama played a dominant role for the Spurs, scoring 29 points, 22 of which were scored in the second half alone. Despite this powerful performance, luck did not smile on him at the end.

Wembanyama demonstrated his full potential on the home court, controlling the game at the power center position both offensively and defensively, and repeatedly had opportunities to score the winning shot. However, in the final seconds, the 2.23-meter-tall Frenchman lost the ball at a crucial moment, allowing the Knicks to maintain possession and preserve the game in time. Wembanyama’s last winning shot also barely missed the basket.

The Knicks showed great tactical discipline in San Antonio and took advantage of strong defense that contained New York’s young star rookie. At the same time, they employed a balanced attack led by the experienced Julius Randle, who added 26 points. The narrow score difference and dramatic finish reflected the balance and tension of this final series.

Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau praised his team’s mental resilience, which, despite the Spurs’ home advantage, remained calm and took key moments in their favor. “We know Victor is an extraordinary player, but we responded as a team and won important balls,” Thibodeau said after the game.

Wembanyama, who is considered the hope of French basketball, continues to be the center of attention for fans and experts. The next game in New York will give the Spurs the opportunity to reduce the series deficit and make the Finals fight more open. For now, the series remains an exciting confrontation between ambitious talents and experienced veterans.

The NBA Finals will continue with game 3 in New York, where the stadium is filled with expectations for the Knicks’ first home win. Guaranteed tension and a high level of basketball, as well as the question of whether Wembanyama can confirm his exceptional status in decisive moments, or if the Knicks will further increase their lead.

The confrontation in the world’s strongest basketball league is currently considered one of the most attractive Finals in recent years, especially due to the minimal score differences and the exceptional performances of the French center. The entire basketball world is eagerly following the next games of this thrilling series.
