The leaders made clear their support for President Zelenskyy’s initiative, in his 4 June 2026 letter to the Russian president, to seek to end the war through diplomatic means. They welcomed the proposal for direct dialogue between Ukraine and Russia and advocated for active participation by the United States and Europe in that dialogue, with the aim of achieving a ceasefire and enabling further negotiations.
