Florence Memorial Event: 6,000 People Commemorate the Late Rihanna

Fleurance — June 7, 2026: On Sunday, June 7, 2026, about 6,000 people in the city of Fleurance in the Gers department gathered to hold a memorial ceremony for the 11-year-old student Rihanna. In Rihanna’s case, the main suspect is 41-year-old family father Jérôme Barella, who has been accused multiple times of sexually abusing minors but was never questioned by law enforcement. The memorial ended with one minute of silence in memory of Rihanna.

This tragedy deeply shocked the local community and also sparked nationwide outrage. President Emmanuel Macron called the incident “unacceptable” and emphasized clear negligence. Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin apologized to Rihanna’s family on behalf of the judiciary.
