G7 Summit Held in Evian: Focus on Security Measures and Iran Agreement

Évian-les-Bains – June 15, 2026: From June 15 to 17, 2026, the Group of Seven (G7) Summit will be held in Évian-les-Bains, France. Amid rising international tensions, U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to attend and will discuss major global conflicts with other national and government leaders, including the situation in the Middle East and the reassessment of relations with Iran.

Due to the importance of the summit, French and Swiss authorities have implemented extensive security measures. A total of approximately 16,000 security personnel have been mobilized, of which about 10,000 police officers are responsible for investigations, crime suppression, and ensuring public safety. Entry is controlled by QR code, and strict access restrictions apply within the 1,670 square kilometer security zone. The high level of security is especially intended to respond to potential acts of sabotage due to political tensions, cyber attacks, and unrest.

Already on June 14 in Geneva, tens of thousands protested demanding peace and global justice. While most demonstrators were peaceful, about 600 Black Bloc activists launched riots. The situation escalated as protesters set vehicles on fire and smashed bank building windows. Police responded by using tear gas and water cannons to suppress the riots.

The most important topic on the agenda is the recently concluded agreement between the U.S. and Iran, aiming to ease diplomatic tensions and particularly to limit Iran’s nuclear activities. The agreement was mediated by Pakistan, and the details of technical talks scheduled within the next 60 days have not yet been disclosed. European leaders are cautiously optimistic as they monitor this issue.

President Trump, who was previously criticized for a lack of cooperation with allies, is approaching this summit with renewed enthusiasm. The international community expects concrete progress on several crises such as the Ukraine conflict and the Gaza Strip clashes. Additionally, global challenges like artificial intelligence regulation and economic stability issues are major points of discussion.

The security situation is still assessed as tense, with further protests expected. French and Swiss authorities are closely cooperating to ensure the safety of summit participants and citizens.

The G7 Summit held in Évian provides an important platform for the seven advanced economies to coordinate strategies for solving the most urgent global problems. The outcomes of the meeting may have extensive political and economic impacts, attracting significant global attention.
