“13h15 le samedi”: Insights into an Extraordinary Senior Cohousing Community in Vaucluse

Vaucluse – 05.06.2026: In the Vaucluse region, the French TV program “13h15 le samedi” visited a special senior cohousing community. This community is characterized by an average age of about 90 years and was founded by Chloé Richard. Her goal is to enable elderly people to live a self-determined life in a friendly and active environment.

Chloé Richard, who previously worked for 15 years as a social worker, opened the first “Maison Marguerite” in Valréas nearly four years ago. Due to its great success, she decided to open another house in Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux. “I chose Saint-Paul because it is a city I particularly appreciate. I lived there for several years and find that it is the ideal place for a cohousing community to age peacefully!” Richard explained.

The “Maison Marguerite” in Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux, which was opened on June 1, offers ten furnished single rooms with private bathrooms and toilets. Shared areas such as the living room, dining room, kitchen, and a beautiful garden are available to all residents. An elevator has been installed to facilitate access.

A special feature of this cohousing community is the daily support provided by a specialized team, present onsite seven days a week. This team takes care of everyday tasks such as shopping, meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry care, and organizing activities. Residents are able to express their own wishes and needs in this regard.

Although the “Maison Marguerite” is not medically supervised, residents have the freedom to choose their own healthcare providers such as doctors, physiotherapists, or nurses. “Everything works like at home. The housemates select their own caregivers,” emphasized Chloé Richard.

Residents have the opportunity to participate in various activities organized by the community. These include gentle gymnastics, singing, theater, dance, excursions, and visits. These activities are decided on collectively and help promote a sense of community.

The monthly costs for “Maison Marguerite” range between 1,700 and 1,900 euros and cover rent, additional costs (water, electricity, internet), services (laundry and housekeeping, meal preparation), activities, and shopping for all meals.

A report about the “Maison Marguerite” in Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux and the story of the project was broadcast on June 6 or 7 on France 2. Further information can be obtained by email at saintpaultroischateaux@maisonsmarguerite.com or by phone at 06 89 28 39 70.
