France: Michelin-Star Chef Michel Sarran Closes All His Croq’Michel Restaurants

The Croq’ Michel adventure is coming to an end. Toulouse Michelin-star chef Michel Sarran has now announced the closure of all his Croque-Monsieur restaurants.

It will no longer be possible to try the famous Croque-Monsieur by Michel Sarran. The brand initially announced the permanent closure of its restaurants on the social network Instagram: “Croq’ Michel rue des Filatiers is closing its doors permanently. This adventure was incredible, and we want to thank you for your smiles, the shared moments, and your loyalty during this delicious journey. A huge thank you to all of you on behalf of the entire Croq’Michel team.” It was then explained in the comments section that all restaurants will be permanently closed.

Launched in 2020, Croq’ Michel is primarily a family affair. Michel Sarran and his two daughters Camille and Emma embarked together on the adventure surrounding the hugely popular Croque Monsieur in France. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the establishments initially could not welcome customers and only offered home delivery.

After the pandemic ended, the business grew to include two restaurants in Toulouse: one on Rue des Filatiers in the Carmes district and one in the Saint-Cyprien district. A location was also opened in Paris at Gare de Lyon. Recently, Michel Sarran announced the opening of a Croq’ Michel in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, in one of the many malls in the city.

Many internet users expressed their sadness over the permanent closure of the locations on social media: “Nooo … that was my weekly happiness … so sad” or “Why are you closing all your outlets? Crazy croques. We will miss you.”

Other internet users were not really surprised: “Too expensive, it was predictable.” As a reminder: the Michelin-star chef’s fast-food restaurant offered various options priced between 13.50 euros and 16.50 euros, or Croque-Monsieur for takeaway between 8 euros and 9 euros.

Michel Sarran returns to television
On Wednesday, August 23, at 9:10 p.m., the first episode of the new show “The Perfect Photo” was broadcast on the French channel M6, featuring Michel Sarran as a participant. Several celebrities such as Adriana Karembeu, Black, and Alizé Lim compete against each other to take the best possible photo.

The Michelin-star chef Michel Sarran has also entered into a partnership with the American fast-food chain Burger King. Three burgers named “Les Masters du Chef,” created by the Toulouse chef, are now available on their menus. Michel Sarran is also preparing, together with the Chevaliers du Fiel, the organization of the next Cassoulet World Championship, which is scheduled to take place in early 2024 in Asia…
