NBA Finals: The New York Knicks win the second game against Victor Wembanyama's Spurs

San Antonio – 06.06.2026: The NBA Finals series between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs reached a tense level in the second game. The Knicks won on the road with a score of 108:105 and increased their lead in the best-of-seven series to 2:0. In the process, the French star Victor Wembanyama played a dominant role for the Spurs, scoring 29 points, 22 of which came in the second half alone. Despite this outstanding performance, fortune was not on his side in the end.

Wembanyama impressively showed his full potential for the home team, controlling the game as a great center both offensively and defensively, with multiple opportunities to score the decisive basket. But in the final seconds, the 2.23-meter Frenchman lost the crucial ball, allowing the Knicks to maintain possession and save the game at the buzzer. Additionally, a last shot by Wembanyama for a possible victory fell just short of the rim.

The Knicks demonstrated great tactical discipline in San Antonio and benefited from strong defense that limited the young New York talent. At the same time, they relied on a balanced offense, led by the experienced Julius Randle, who contributed 26 points. The close result and the dramatic final phase reflected the parity and excitement of this final series.

Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau praised his team’s mental toughness, which remained calm despite the Spurs’ home advantage and won the key moments. “We know that Victor is an extraordinary player, but we responded as a team and earned the important balls,” Thibodeau stated after the game.

Wembanyama, considered the hope of French basketball, remains at the center of attention for fans and experts alike. In the next game in New York, the Spurs will have the opportunity to reduce the series deficit and make the final battle more open. So far, the series remains an exciting matchup between emerging talents and experienced veterans.

The NBA Finals series will continue with Game 3 in New York, where the arena expects to be full and with high expectations for the Knicks’ first home victory. The excitement and high quality of basketball are guaranteed, as is the question of whether Wembanyama can confirm his exceptional status in the decisive moments or if the Knicks will further extend their lead.

The duel in the world’s strongest basketball league is already considered one of the most attractive finals in years, not only because of the close scores but also due to the extraordinary performance of the French center. The entire basketball world is closely watching the upcoming games in this thrilling series.
