The Raihanan Incident: "We Must Return to the Words of the Children," Calls the Les Papillons Association Concerning Violence Against Minors

In this context, the Les Papillons Association is intensifying its efforts to give children a voice and promote early detection of abuse.

The Les Papillons Association has installed special mailbox boxes at schools and sports clubs, allowing children to anonymously leave letters or drawings about abuse or violence. This method aims to ease children’s reluctance and enable them to safely express their feelings.

The main suspect, 41-year-old Jérôme B., had been accused in August 2025 of multiple sexual assaults on a 10-year-old girl who was a friend of his daughter, but he had never been interviewed by the investigating authorities. “My client is still presumed innocent, and he has never been interviewed in this investigation,” one of his lawyers explained to BFMTV.

These shortcomings prompted an investigation by the relevant authorities. Interior Minister Roland Nunes and Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin have launched an administrative inquiry to examine possible “dysfunctions” in handling the accusations. Nunes stated at a parliamentary session, “This concerns accusations from the summer of 2025. Your question — about what investigative measures were taken, how long they took, who was involved, and what the specific results were — is completely legitimate.”

The Raihanna case has also sparked broad discussion about protecting children from sexual violence.
