Concern is growing day by day for nurse Aude Fagot, missing since the end of May in the French Haut-Doubs region. On Monday, June 8, around 250 citizens participated in an extensive search operation in the commune of Jougne near the Swiss border. Despite the impressive commitment of the helpers, the search has so far been unsuccessful.
The 44-year-old woman has been considered missing since May 31. Since her disappearance, investigators have been working intensively to determine her whereabouts. Hope for new insights was raised by a large-scale citizen search organized by the authorities and accompanied by about 30 gendarmes.
Already early in the morning, the volunteers gathered in Jougne. They then systematically combed through an approximately three-square-kilometer forest area. The operation focused on the area where the missing woman’s vehicle was discovered on June 4. The terrain is challenging: dense forests, confusing paths, and numerous natural obstacles greatly complicate the search.
For hours, the search teams moved in lines through the area. Anyone who has ever participated in such an operation knows the special mix of hope and tension. Every object on the forest floor, every unusual trace increases attention. But at the end of the day, the sobering realization remained: No new clue brought investigators any closer.
For Aude Fagot’s family and close ones, this means another painful phase of uncertainty. In missing person cases, often every piece of information, no matter how small, counts. Therefore, investigators are continuing their work with determination.
The authorities currently do not rule out any possibilities. Besides an accident or voluntary absence, investigators are also considering the possible involvement of a third party. In this early stage of the investigation, it is essential to carefully evaluate all clues and not prematurely dismiss any theory.
The investigation is in the hands of the Pontarlier investigation unit. In parallel, the police are once again appealing to the public for assistance. Sometimes an observation that initially seems insignificant is enough to bring a decisive turn in a case.
Aude Fagot is 1.56 meters tall, slim build, with medium-length brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information about her disappearance or possible whereabouts is asked to contact the Les Hôpitaux-Neufs gendarmerie or call the emergency number immediately.
As the days pass, hope remains that new clues will emerge and the fate of the missing woman can be clarified. The extraordinary level of public participation shows how strong the solidarity in the region is and how great the desire to find answers.
