Evian-les-Bains – 14.06.2026: From June 15 to 17, 2026, this year’s G7 Summit will take place in Evian-les-Bains, France. To ensure the smooth running of this international conference, French authorities have developed a strict security plan. Approximately 16,000 personnel, including police officers, gendarmes, military members, and special units, will be deployed on site. Besides these personnel measures, extensive technical arrangements are planned: For example, a QR code system will be used for access control, and a security perimeter covering an area of about 1,670 square kilometers has been established, where special protective measures apply.
At the same time, neighboring Switzerland and especially the city of Geneva are preparing for accompanying events. On June 14, 2026, the Cantonal Council of Geneva approved a demonstration for the alliance “No-G7,” a coalition of around 60 organizations. The protest march is set to start at 4 p.m. at Park Mon Repos, follow a route along the right side of the lake, and pass through representative squares such as Quai Wilson, Quai du Mont-Blanc, Rue des Alpes, Rue de la Servette, Rue de la Rive, Avenue Giuseppe-Motta, Place des Nations, and Avenue de France before returning to the original starting point.
The organizers emphasize that the event is to proceed peacefully and simultaneously call for a rethink in G7 policy. Nevertheless, they voiced criticism of the high security requirements and the associated restrictions on citizens. Some shops in Geneva have therefore installed protective barriers to shield themselves against possible acts of violence.
Swiss authorities have also mobilized additional forces to ensure security during the demonstration. Furthermore, several border crossings have been closed and heightened controls introduced to prevent unwanted riots at an early stage.
France and Switzerland thus act together as hosts and protective powers to make the summit and the accompanying protest activities as safe and orderly as possible. The close cooperation of the security agencies of both countries is crucial to minimize tensions and maintain public order.
Observers consider the situation dynamic despite extensive preparations but see a strong will in the preparations to peacefully carry out the summit. Authorities appeal to all participants to comply with regulations to avoid conflicts.
Current information is regularly published by official sources to inform the public about potential traffic disruptions and security measures. This aims to ensure that guests, residents, and demonstrators are optimally prepared for the G7 Summit and the accompanying protests.
