Global Mapping of Underground Fungal Network Released

Paris – 20.06.2026: Scientists have recently published a comprehensive map of the underground fungal network that extends over 450 quadrillion kilometers, roughly half the width of our galaxy. This network, also known as the mycorrhizal network, consists of microscopic threads called hyphae that penetrate the soil and play a crucial role in the ecosystem.The organization Society for the Protection of Underground Networks (SPUN) created this map by collecting 2.8 billion DNA sequences from around the world.
