Strike Declared at Stellantis Mulhouse Plant Due to Extreme High Temperatures

Mulhouse – June 23, 2026: The labor union Confédération Générale du Travail (CGT) has declared a strike at the Stellantis factory in Mulhouse as a warning against the harsh working conditions caused by high temperatures. In several work areas within the factory, temperatures have reached between 38 and 40 degrees Celsius, threatening the health of the workers. In response, the CGT is demanding a reduction in working hours for early morning and late shifts.

In recent days, concerns have been spreading among employees due to the high temperatures in the Stellantis Mulhouse factory work areas. Union representatives have warned that temperatures are reaching 40 degrees in some zones, making the working environment significantly difficult. Therefore, the CGT is demanding work schedule adjustments to protect workers’ health.

Stellantis has previously invested in its Mulhouse site. In June 2026, an investment package exceeding 1 billion euros was announced, with approximately 400 million euros allocated for the production of three new Peugeot models in Mulhouse. This investment demonstrates the importance of Mulhouse to the car manufacturer.

The CGT emphasizes that the current working conditions not only endanger workers’ health but could also negatively impact production quality. Therefore, they are calling on Stellantis to take prompt measures to improve the working environment and ensure employee safety.

The announced strike is part of a series of actions by the CGT in various industries in recent months, aimed at drawing attention to unfair working conditions and issues. The union highlights the importance of ongoing monitoring of working conditions and making adjustments as necessary, insisting that the health and safety of workers must be protected.

The situation in Mulhouse reflects a larger issue occurring in many industrial facilities during heatwaves. High temperatures not only reduce productivity but can also cause health problems for employees. Therefore, companies like Stellantis must take proactive measures to avoid such situations and ensure the safety of their workers.

The CGT has announced it will continue the strike until a satisfactory solution is found. They strongly urge Stellantis to adjust working hours and ensure a working environment that complies with health standards. The union stresses that worker safety and welfare must be the top priority.

The situation in Mulhouse remains tense, and attention is focused on Stellantis’ response to the CGT’s demands. It is hoped that swift and effective solutions will be found to improve working conditions and avoid further strikes.
