Mulhouse – 06/23/2026 : The union Confédération Générale du Travail (CGT) announced a strike at the Stellantis plant in Mulhouse to draw attention to the extreme working conditions due to the intense heat. In some production halls, temperatures reach 38 to 40 degrees Celsius, endangering the health of the workers. The CGT therefore demands an early end to shift hours, both for the morning and evening teams.
The high temperatures in the Stellantis Mulhouse workshops have recently raised concern among employees. A union representative warned that temperatures reach up to 40 degrees Celsius in some areas, significantly complicating working conditions. The CGT therefore calls for an adaptation of working hours to protect the health of the workers.
Stellantis has already invested in the Mulhouse site in the past. In June 2026, an investment plan of more than one billion euros was announced, of which around 400 million euros will be dedicated to the production of three new Peugeot models in Mulhouse. This investment underlines the importance of the site for the car manufacturer.
The CGT emphasizes that the current working conditions not only endanger the health of employees but can also affect production quality. The union therefore calls for urgent measures from Stellantis to improve working conditions and ensure employee safety.
The announced strike is part of a series of actions carried out by the CGT in recent months in various sectors to denounce malfunctions and inadequate working conditions. The union insists on the need to constantly monitor working conditions and adapt them if necessary to protect the health and safety of workers.
The situation in Mulhouse reflects a broader problem encountered in many industrial facilities during heat waves. High temperatures can not only harm productivity but also cause health problems among employees. It is therefore crucial that companies like Stellantis take proactive measures to avoid such conditions and guarantee the safety of their employees.
The CGT has announced that it will continue strike measures until a satisfactory solution is found. It urges Stellantis to adjust working hours and ensure that working conditions meet health standards. The union stresses that the safety and well-being of workers must be the top priority.
The situation in Mulhouse remains tense, and it remains to be seen how Stellantis will respond to the CGT’s demands. Hopefully, a quick and effective solution will be found to improve working conditions and avoid further strike actions.
