Summer of Dance Art: Our Selection for Celebrating Choreographic Diversity

Paris – 24.06.2026: The summer in France promises to be a celebration of choreographic diversity. Numerous open-air performances at special locations honor the French heritage and invite unforgettable experiences.

From July 11 to August 4, 2026, the “Festival Paris l’été” takes place in Paris. This renowned festival presents a mix of theater, dance, circus, music, and performance art at more than fifteen unusual locations in the city and region. The events are largely free and offer something for everyone.

A highlight of the festival is the performance “Revoir les étoiles” by the Australian circus troupe Circa. From June 5 to 7, 2026, this spectacle at the Grand Palais d’été takes the audience into a world of aerial acrobatics that unites dance, theater, and music. The production is an ode to optimism and symbolizes the ascent from darkness into light.

From June 15 to 21, 2026, the MoVa Festival takes place in Balagne on Corsica. This innovative festival for contemporary dance and music performances integrates art into the breathtaking landscapes of the region. It offers three immersive art routes connecting various natural and historical locations, as well as numerous workshops and masterclasses for all ages.

For lovers of contemporary circus, the “Festival Rue des Étoiles” offers a week full of acrobatics, juggling, clowning, and aerial acts from August 20 to 24, 2026, in Biscarrosse in the Landes. This festival, which has existed since 1998, takes place in a picturesque setting on the shore of Lac de Latécoère and combines poetry, humor, and technical skill.

Finally, the event “L’ivresse des lucioles” by Carmel Loanga on July 22 and 23, 2026, in the Jardin des Tuileries in Paris is noted. This dance piece, presented as part of the “Étés du Louvre,” promises a unique outdoor experience.

The diversity of the selected events reflects the vibrant and versatile dance scene of France. They offer the audience the opportunity to experience the most diverse facets of the art form – from classical and contemporary dance to innovative circus and performance art. By choosing special locations, the festivals also place emphasis on framing the performances within picturesque natural or urban landscapes, thus creating unforgettable summer impressions.

In addition to the professional performances, many festivals offer workshops and masterclasses that especially support young talent and interested parties. Thus, the summer of 2026 will be an occasion to not only enjoy the cultural scene of France passively but also actively participate in it. All in all, the season promises to be a cultural highlight that successfully combines dance art and circus, tradition, and innovation.
