A debate over the reintroduction of the death penalty has emerged within the Rassemblement National. After party spokesperson Laurent Jacobelli stated that one could consider a referendum on the death penalty if the population wished, party vice president Sébastien Chenu has now clearly rejected these statements. "No, the reintroduction of the death penalty is not part of our program," Chenu said, making it clear that the official line of the RN remains unchanged.
