Foodwatch Exposes Labeling Frauds Ahead of the Holidays

For Christmas, Foodwatch offers a “Fraud Calendar.” Every day, the association exposes a different fraud on product labels.

Throughout December, the consumer protection association Foodwatch presents a “Fraud Calendar” on Twitter. 24 doors, 24 products… 24 new frauds on the labels.

For example, on December 1st, Foodwatch highlighted the “Zucchini-Délice de Courgettes au Chèvre” (Zucchini Delight with Goat Cheese) from the Liebig brand: a “delight” that actually contains barely 0.2% cheese powder. “Not nearly enough to make it a ‘gourmet’ soup as promised on the packaging,” says the association. Or on December 4th, consumers had to learn that the Bordeau Chesnel brand had arched the bottom of their canned jars with pickled roast chicken rillettes. “The result is a bluff: about 13% less rillettes and just as much extra vacuum!” Foodwatch criticizes.
