Baccalaureate 2026: the Ministry of Education clarifies publications by academy and how resits will proceed

Paris – 08.07.2026: The French Ministry of Education confirmed the publication schedule for the 2026 baccalaureate results and began the first online releases on Tuesday. Several metropolitan academies — including Aix-Marseille and Lyon — set their time slots in the morning. In Île-de-France, the Inter-Academic Examination and Competition Service (SIEC) coordinates simultaneous publication for Paris, Créteil and Versailles at an agreed time. Candidates can view their results online; physical or digital lists are only accessible on the official date.

In overseas territories, local time zones apply. Martinique, Guadeloupe and Réunion published their results in the morning, local time, while other locations will follow through the evening. For the French Polynesia academy, publication was scheduled until 8 p.m. local time. The ministry’s approach follows established practice, in which academy-by-academy online publication is linked to a schedule communicated each year.

Specialized websites and major media outlets compile schedules by academy in summaries. For the main metropolitan academies, July 7 had been announced as the main day with staggered time slots; in overseas departments and territories, publication takes place at different times. The ministry reminds candidates that, in case of doubt, individual notifications only have legal value if they are published on the official websites of the relevant academy or on the information pages of the Ministry of National Education.

Initial estimates of pass rates are circulating, based on academy-level summaries. Agency reports suggest a figure of around 80%. These figures are provisional and may change after validation by the competent services. Final national figures will be published by the ministry after checks and cross-checks have been completed.

For second-round examinations (resits), the ministry refers to a narrow time window immediately after the first publication. Resits must be taken within the deadlines communicated by the academies. In 2026, organizational details also apply regarding retake and re-enrollment rules, particularly concerning minimum grades and deadlines. Schools and examination centers directly inform those concerned of the dates, procedures and required documents.

With the publication of results, important follow-up processes begin at the same time. Universities, IUTs and institutions offering BTS programs are now reviewing admission lists and waiting lists. Academic guidance and advisory services traditionally see an increase in demand, particularly for questions about resits, changes of direction and application schedules. To check personal results or obtain an official certificate, it is recommended to use the portals of one’s academy; these are also the sites that will publish updated aggregate figures and final pass rates.
