Sinner Beats Djokovic – Zverev Stops Fery to Reach Wimbledon Final

London – 10.07.2026: Jannik Sinner defeated Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 on Centre Court with impressive composure and precision to reach the Wimbledon final. The world number one dictated the pace from the opening rally, won the majority of the longer baseline exchanges and was almost untouchable on his own serve. Whenever an opening emerged, Sinner moved decisively to the net and finished the point consistently.

Djokovic, 39, was unable to find his usual consistency after his energy-sapping quarter-final against Felix Auger-Aliassime. He fought back with a varied backhand and occasional serve-and-volley play, but Sinner’s first serve landed consistently and reliably set up the subsequent shots. In the few critical moments, the defending champion kept his cool: his first-serve percentage was high, and he rarely allowed break points. After the final point, the crowd applauded both players, while Djokovic visibly movedly thanked the sold-out stadium.

In the second semi-final, Alexander Zverev defeated British crowd favourite Arthur Fery 7-6 (0), 6-2, 6-4. The German neutralised Fery’s varied angles early, forced him into longer rallies and scored with flat, precise groundstrokes. The first-set tiebreak proved decisive: Zverev served dominantly, disrupted Fery’s rhythm and thereafter allowed scarcely any uncertainty to creep in. The 24-year-old Briton, who entered the field on a wildcard, had previously surprised with spirited performances but too rarely found answers to Zverev’s pressure.

For Zverev, it is his first final appearance at Church Road. The newly crowned French Open champion has looked physically robust and tactically versatile this summer; his serve opens up points, while at the net he decisively seeks the finish. Sinner, meanwhile, is confirming his maturity on grass: short swings, clean footwork and few unforced errors. Both bring strong form and clear ambitions into the final.

The men’s final between Sinner and Zverev is scheduled for Sunday. It promises a contrast between two complementary profiles: Sinner’s precision, return quality and patient court-opening will meet Zverev’s powerful serve, backhand down the line and improved transitions to the net. Centre Court can therefore expect tactically driven, high-pressure tennis. For Wimbledon, the matchup also offers a generational perspective: the still-young defending champion against an established opponent seeking his first grass-court major. The day’s results underline that consistency and nerve are proving decisive early more often this year – and Sinner and Zverev have delivered both ingredients.
