Vaucluse: French mathematics teacher missing after wildfires in Spain

According to information from Franceinfo, she works as a mathematics teacher in the Vaucluse department. The woman is believed to have travelled with her family to the area affected by the fire at the beginning of her holiday. Her identity has not been disclosed to protect her privacy.

The fire spread during the night of 10 July in the area around Los Gallardos, in Andalusia, under difficult conditions. Drought and wind hampered the work of firefighters. The terrain, with houses scattered across hillsides, made evacuations and the search for residents particularly complicated. The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on 11 July that a French citizen was among those missing. Identification will be carried out by Spanish authorities.
