Paris concert on 14 July: access to the Champ-de-Mars only from 8 p.m. due to the heat

Paris – 13 July 2026: Public access to the concert at the Champ-de-Mars on the occasion of the French national holiday will open much later due to the persistent extreme heat. Visitors will only be able to enter the cordoned-off event area from 8 p.m. on Monday. Previously, admission had been scheduled from 4 p.m. The postponement is intended to reduce exposure to high temperatures during the afternoon hours.

The large concert takes place at the foot of the Eiffel Tower and, according to current information from the organizers, will begin at 9 p.m. It is part of the program linked to the national holiday and takes place before the fireworks. Admission is generally free and no reservation is required. However, the city notes that access may be restricted once the permitted capacity has been reached.

The measure concerns one of the capital’s busiest public event venues. The Champ-de-Mars is located in the 7th arrondissement, between the Eiffel Tower and the Ecole Militaire. A secured area has been set up for the celebrations. Anyone wishing to follow the concert on site should therefore expect checks and waiting times, even if the delayed admission reduces the time spent in the afternoon heat.

Paris has been under the influence of an exceptionally severe period of heat for days. The city has therefore expanded its protection and cooling services and organized additional precautionary measures especially for particularly vulnerable people. In the event of large crowds, high temperatures increase the risk of circulatory problems, dehydration and medical emergencies. The delayed admission is part of an adjustment of the event schedule to this situation.

The fireworks at the Eiffel Tower have also been brought forward this year: they will take place on the evening of 13 July rather than, as usual, on 14 July. The city of Paris justifies this exception with the tenth anniversary of the Nice attack of 14 July 2016. The concert and fireworks therefore constitute the main public evening event of the national celebrations in the capital.

For visitors, it remains essential to take the new admission time into account and not go to the event entrance at the originally scheduled time of 4 p.m. The concert will also be broadcast on television and radio. There is therefore an alternative for people who wish to avoid long waiting times, heat or a possible restriction of access to the Champ-de-Mars.

The national holiday itself will be celebrated on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, including the traditional military parade on the Champs-Elysees. Special security and traffic arrangements apply on the evening of 13 July for the area around the Champ-de-Mars, the Trocadero and the Eiffel Tower. Authorities may continue to manage access according to visitor numbers and the security situation.
