Paris concert for 14 July: due to heat, access to the Champ de Mars only from 20:00

Paris – 13 July 2026: Public access to the concert on the Champ de Mars for the French national holiday will open significantly later due to the prolonged extreme heat. Visitors will only be able to enter the fenced event area on Monday from 8:00 p.m. Entry had previously been scheduled from 4:00 p.m. The postponement is intended to reduce the strain caused by high afternoon temperatures.

The large concert will take place at the foot of the Eiffel Tower and, according to current information from the organizers, will begin at 9:00 p.m. It is part of the program surrounding the national holiday and takes place before the fireworks display. Admission is generally free, and no reservation is required. However, the city notes that access may be restricted once the permitted capacity is reached.

The event concerns one of the most visited venues for public events in the capital. The Champ de Mars is located in the 7th arrondissement between the Eiffel Tower and the École Militaire. A secured area has been set up for the celebrations. Those wishing to watch the concert live should therefore expect checks and waiting times, even though the later entry reduces the time spent in the afternoon heat.

Paris has already been affected by an exceptionally exhausting period of heat for several days. The city has therefore expanded its protection and cooling measures and organized additional precautions, especially for particularly vulnerable people. During large gatherings, high temperatures increase the risk of circulatory problems, dehydration and medical emergencies. The later access is part of adapting the course of the event to this situation.

The fireworks display near the Eiffel Tower has also been moved to an earlier date this year: it is scheduled to take place on the evening of 13 July rather than, as usual, on 14 July. The City of Paris explains this exception by the tenth anniversary of the Nice attack on 14 July 2016. The concert and fireworks will thus become the main public evening event of the national celebrations in the capital.

For visitors, it is essential to take the changed entry time into account and not arrive at the event entrance at the originally scheduled time of 4:00 p.m. The concert will also be broadcast on television and radio. This is an alternative for people who want to avoid long waits, the heat or possible restrictions on access to the Champ de Mars.

The national holiday itself, on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, will be marked in particular by the traditional military parade on the Champs-Élysées. On the evening of 13 July, special security and traffic regulations will apply to the area around the Champ de Mars, Trocadéro and the Eiffel Tower. Depending on visitor numbers and the security situation, authorities may further regulate access.
