Bahrain reports repelling an Iranian attack after a new wave of U.S. strikes

Manama – 18 July 2026: according to consistent reports, Bahrain has repelled another Iranian attack. The attack followed another night of US airstrikes against targets in Iran. The situation in the Persian Gulf therefore remains extremely dangerous: Washington and Tehran are continuing their reciprocal military operations, while several states in the region are keeping their air defenses on heightened alert.

According to information from Bahrain, incoming projectiles and unmanned aircraft were intercepted. Authorities initially released no verified details on the number of missiles or drones used. No independently confirmed information on possible damage to military or civilian facilities was available on Saturday morning either. The population was urged to follow official warnings and not to spread unverified information.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed to have attacked US facilities in Bahrain. They reported strikes on a depot for unmanned systems and an artificial intelligence center. This account could not initially be independently verified. The Bahraini side confirmed that it had repelled an attack, but provided no information supporting the Iranian claims regarding the targets hit.

The US military had previously stated that it had attacked several sites in Iran for the seventh consecutive night. In previous statements, the responsible US regional command, CENTCOM, had cited radar, communications, air defense and drone infrastructure as targets in comparable operations. A detailed and updated list of the facilities attacked that night was not initially available.

Because of US forces stationed on its territory, Bahrain has been regularly hit by Iranian missile and drone attacks since the start of the fighting. The kingdom hosts facilities of the US Fifth Fleet, among others. In recent months, the Bahraini armed forces have repeatedly stated that they intercepted a large number of Iranian projectiles. However, information on the individual attacks often comes from the parties to the conflict and can only be partially independently verified.

The recent escalation does not affect Bahrain alone. In recent days, Iranian attacks and US retaliatory measures have also affected other Gulf states as well as the waters around the Strait of Hormuz. This strait is a key route for global energy trade. Each new exchange of strikes therefore increases the risk of disruptions to shipping, energy supplies and the safety of civilian populations in the region.

No diplomatic progress capable of containing the violence is currently visible. In assessing the latest attack, it will remain crucial whether Bahrain, the United States or independent bodies later publish precise information on strikes, damage or casualties. Until then, the confirmed defense in Bahrain and the continued reciprocal attacks between the United States and Iran remain at the center of the current situation.
