Paris toughens tone toward Tehran after detention of French diplomats

Paris - 23 July 2026: France has stepped up its criticism of Iran following the temporary detention of two employees of the French embassy in Tehran. Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot described the incident as an extremely serious and deliberate assault.
