Customs seizes more than 46,000 fireworks items in six weeks

Paris - 23 July 2026: In warehouses, parcel flows and roadside inspections, French customs officers seized more than 46,000 pyrotechnic items within six weeks. The seizures took place as part of the nationwide Operation Taranis, through which authorities aim to curb the illegal trade and unauthorized importation of fireworks ahead of several events expected to draw large crowds.The figure reflects controls that go far beyond individual discoveries: parcels are opened, supply chains checked and vehicles stopped.
