Réseau Action Climat Calls for Stronger Consideration of Climate Change in Political Debates Until 2027

Paris – 27.05.2026: In view of the recent heatwaves in France, Réseau Action Climat has called on the political class to bring climate issues more strongly into debates through 2027. A spokesperson for the network emphasized in an interview with France Inter that the repeated temperature records at the end of May highlight the urgency of placing climate protection measures at the center of the political agenda.

Réseau Action Climat is an alliance of 27 national environmental organizations and 10 local associations that advocate for climate protection and a just ecological transition. As the French branch of Climate Action Network Europe (CAN Europe), the network coordinates the activities of NGOs dealing with topics such as energy, transport, and agriculture.

In recent years, Réseau Action Climat has repeatedly pointed out the need to integrate climate issues more prominently into political discussions. In June 2025, the network criticized political setbacks on environmental issues and highlighted the negative impacts on the French population and the economy.

Despite these appeals, the implementation of effective climate protection measures in French politics remains a challenge. The current heatwaves demonstrate the urgency to take more decisive action against climate change and to implement appropriate political measures.

In light of the upcoming 2027 elections, Réseau Action Climat calls on political decision-makers to place climate issues at the heart of their programs and to take concrete actions to protect the climate. Only through increased political attention and determined action can climate change be effectively addressed and the quality of life of citizens secured in the long term.

Recent events show that climate change is already having tangible effects on daily life. It is therefore essential that climate issues are not treated as a peripheral topic but recognized as a central challenge on the political agenda through 2027 and beyond.

Réseau Action Climat emphasizes that the inclusion of climate issues in political debates is not only an ecological necessity but also offers economic opportunities. Investments in green technologies and sustainable development can create new jobs and strengthen France’s competitiveness.

In conclusion, the network appeals to the political class to take the current challenges of climate change seriously and to take concrete steps to ensure a sustainable and just future for all.

When it comes to environmental and weather issues, precise language is especially important. Warnings, measurements, and regional differences must remain understandable without unnecessary dramatization. France’s climate is very diverse; therefore, the same event along the Atlantic coast, Mediterranean, Alps, or inland can have very different practical consequences.
