Smoking on bathing beaches can cost 135 euros in France

France - 30 July 2026: Anyone who smokes on a French bathing beach during the bathing season risks a fine of 135 euros. Franceinfo reported on Thursday about beachgoers who said they knew nothing about the rule or had not noticed any signs. However, the ban applies regardless of whether signage on site is immediately visible.
