Ceuta after the mass influx: online calls and an open border

Ceuta - 01/08/2026: Following the largest irregular border crossing in its recent history, the Spanish exclave of Ceuta is trying to regain control of the situation. According to preliminary figures from Spain's Interior Ministry, around 50,000 people have crossed the border from Morocco since Thursday, July 30. Ceuta's head of government, Juan Jesús Vivas, at times put the figure as high as 60,000.
