Paris judicial authorities investigate platform Wyylde in connection with case in Gironde department

Paris – July 23, 2026: The Paris public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into the platform Wyylde. The issue is whether the social network for libertines may have been used in connection with a major ongoing case in the Gironde department. According to judicial authorities, women are alleged to have been victims of serious sexual violence there. The investigation has only just begun, and the company is presumed innocent.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the Paris investigative division is handling the inquiry. Authorities are considering the possible operation of an online platform enabling illegal trafficking by an organized group, possible complicity in the dissemination of video recordings of serious acts of violence, and possible failure to comply with the obligation to prevent crimes against bodily integrity. Suspicions of criminal conspiracy are also being investigated.

This new proceeding is linked to the criminal case in Gironde that has occupied investigators for several months. According to multiple reports, 19 men are currently under formal investigation in the case. They are suspected of serious sexual offenses, including aggravated charges of torture or acts of barbarity in some cases. Only a court convened at a later date can determine guilt or responsibility.

At the center of the Gironde investigation is a man suspected of having forced several of his partners at the time into sexual contact with other men over a number of years. According to information available so far, six women who may have been victims have been identified. Investigators are said to have analyzed numerous video recordings. According to reports, these recordings constitute an important part of the evidence, and their legal assessment remains the responsibility of the investigating judge.

Wyylde is alleged to have played a role in contact with participants. The platform offers profiles, messaging functions, photo albums, live video broadcasts, and events. Whether those responsible at the company knew or should have known about specific crimes, or whether technical and organizational preventive measures were insufficient, will be central issues in the current Paris investigation.

In a previous statement, the company condemned all forms of sexual violence and explained that its service must not be used to plan, facilitate, or disseminate criminal acts. No further public response has initially been provided regarding the investigation that has now been opened. This investigation does not concern consensual sexual contact, but rather suspicions of punishable acts of violence and possible responsibility in the digital environment.

For the women concerned, the course of this new proceeding primarily means that not only those suspected of committing the crimes, but also the role of the technical infrastructure will be examined. The case raises a more fundamental question: What responsibility do online platforms bear when there are indications of violence, lack of consent, or unlawfully disseminated recordings?
