Hiroshima commemorates the atomic bomb victims - and debates Japan's defense policy

Hiroshima - 06/08/2026: In Hiroshima, thousands of people commemorated the victims of the American atomic bombing on August 6, 1945, on the 81st anniversary of the attack. The central ceremony began in the morning at the city's Peace Memorial Park; at 8:15 a.m., the time of the explosion, those present observed a minute of silence.
