France hit by abnormal heatwave – government faces pressure

This system allows workers to take up to five additional days off on particularly hot days.

Despite clear warning information, many people continue their usual activities, increasing the risk of heat-related health problems. The government is urging the public to take preventive measures seriously and seek medical attention promptly if symptoms arise.

This heatwave is a consequence of global warming and signals an increase in such extreme weather events. Scientific studies warn that without comprehensive climate measures and adaptation strategies, the intensity and frequency of heatwaves may further rise.

Temperatures are expected to gradually decrease over the next few days, starting from western France. However, humidity is also expected to increase simultaneously, keeping the burden on the population high.
