Fire at Le Mans hospital: Patient critically injured

Le Mans – 09.08.2026: A 59-year-old man was critically injured in a fire in a patient room at the Centre Hospitalier du Mans. The patient was in the pulmonology and infectious diseases department when the fire broke out in his room. According to the hospital’s director general, he was treated as an acute emergency. His life was very clearly in danger on Sunday evening.

Ten other people sustained minor injuries. Further details about their identities and the nature of their injuries were not initially available. It therefore remained unclear whether they were additional patients, hospital staff or emergency responders.
