Alexander Zverev defeats Quentin Halys in the third set at Roland Garros

Paris – 29.05.2026: In the third round of the men’s singles at Roland Garros, German tennis player Alexander Zverev faced Frenchman Quentin Halys. With this victory, Zverev will compete against Dutchman Jesper de Jong in the round of 16. For Halys, elimination means the end of his run at Roland Garros, but his play and the set taken against a top player are seen as positive results. The Frenchman gained important experience in Grand Slam tournaments.

Besides this match, 19-year-old Brazilian Joao Fonseca became one of the biggest sensations of the tournament by defeating the 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic in five sets. Fonseca won with a score of 4:6, 4:6, 6:3, 7:5, and 7:5 and made history.

Conditions at the tournament in Paris further complicated play: with temperatures reaching up to 33 degrees Celsius, many players experienced heat stress.
