Rod Stewart Cancels North American Tour After Heart Procedure

New York – 13 August 2026: Rod Stewart has cancelled the remaining dates of his North American tour following a procedure on his coronary arteries. The British singer, who turned 81 in January, is to recover for four weeks on medical advice, according to a statement from his team. The doctors treating him are satisfied with his progress; Stewart has already resumed his usual daily activities.

According to his publicist, Stewart had a coronary stent inserted. This is a small vascular support intended to keep a narrowed coronary artery open. The procedure should therefore be distinguished from major heart surgery. For a singer whose performances have for decades relied on physical presence and a distinctive raspy voice, however, even a comparatively short recovery period represents a significant interruption.

The affected dates are the remaining US performances of the “One Last Time” tour, including six evenings scheduled for late August at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Concerts in Mexico had also been scheduled through 3 September. Whether individual dates will be rescheduled and how ticket holders will be compensated is to be announced separately by the respective promoters and venues.

The cancellations were preceded by short-notice changes. A concert scheduled for 9 August at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati was initially postponed because of a medical procedure that required prompt treatment. The performance scheduled for 11 August at Rocket Arena in Cleveland was then cancelled entirely. In the preceding months, Stewart had already been unable to perform at individual concerts in Las Vegas and San Diego.

Stewart thanked doctors, nursing staff and all the other people who had cared for him. At the same time, he expressed regret over the disappointment of his audience and said he was looking forward to returning to the stage soon. That desire fits a career that has been shaped by changing bands, styles and solo projects since the 1960s.

With songs such as “Maggie May”, “You Wear It Well” and “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?”, Stewart made the transition from the rough British rock of Faces to a form of pop that filled major arenas without shedding its melancholic roots. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. The “One Last Time” tour, which began in 2024, was conceived as a retrospective of this unusually enduring repertoire.
