Strike announcement at Stellantis Mulhouse due to extreme heat conditions

Mulhouse – 23.06.2026: The union Confédération Générale du Travail (CGT) has announced a strike at the Stellantis factory in Mulhouse to draw attention to the extreme working conditions due to the high temperatures. In some workshops, temperatures reach between 38 and 40 degrees Celsius, which endangers the health of the workers. Therefore, the CGT demands an early end to shift work, both for the morning and the afternoon shifts.

The high temperatures in the Stellantis Mulhouse workshops have caused concern among employees in recent days. A union representative warned that in some areas temperatures reach up to 40 degrees Celsius, which considerably complicates the working conditions. For this reason, the CGT is calling for an adjustment in the schedules to protect the health of the workers.

Stellantis has already invested in the Mulhouse plant before. In June 2026, an investment package of over one billion euros was announced, of which around 400 million euros will be allocated to the production of three new Peugeot models in Mulhouse. This investment underscores the importance of the location for the automotive manufacturer.

The CGT emphasizes that the current working conditions not only endanger the health of the workers but can also affect the quality of production. Therefore, the union demands urgent measures from Stellantis to improve working conditions and ensure employee safety.

The announced strike action is part of a series of actions carried out by the CGT in recent months across various sectors, aiming to denounce poor conditions and lack of job security. The union highlights the need to continuously monitor working conditions and adjust them if necessary to protect the health and safety of the workers.

The situation in Mulhouse reflects a larger problem that occurs in many industrial facilities during heat waves. High temperatures can not only affect productivity but also cause health problems for employees. Therefore, it is essential that companies like Stellantis take proactive measures to prevent such conditions and guarantee the safety of their workers.

The CGT has announced that it will maintain the strike actions until a satisfactory solution is found. It requests that Stellantis adapt working hours and ensure that working conditions meet health standards. The union stresses that the safety and well-being of the workers must be the highest priority.

The situation in Mulhouse remains tense, and it remains to be seen how Stellantis will respond to the demands of the CGT. A rapid and effective solution is expected to improve working conditions and prevent further strike measures.
