Bahrain says it foiled an Iranian attack after the United States launched a new round of strikes

Manama – July 18, 2026: According to consistent reports from multiple sources, Bahrain has thwarted a new Iranian attack. The attack took place after the United States carried out another night of airstrikes on targets inside Iran. The situation in the Persian Gulf therefore remains extremely dangerous: Washington and Tehran continue to conduct military operations against each other, while several countries in the region maintain their air defense systems on high alert.

According to Bahraini sources, incoming projectiles and unmanned aerial vehicles were intercepted. Authorities initially did not release verified details on the number of missiles or drones used. As of Saturday morning, there was also no independent confirmation of possible damage to military or civilian facilities. The public was asked to pay attention to official warnings and not spread unverified information.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said it had attacked US facilities in Bahrain and claimed to have hit a warehouse for unmanned systems and an artificial intelligence center. This claim could not initially be independently verified. While Bahrain confirmed the successful interception of an attack, it provided no information supporting Iran’s claim that targets had been hit.

The US military had previously stated that it had launched attacks on several locations inside Iran for the seventh consecutive night. US Central Command CENTCOM, responsible for the region, had said in briefings on similar operations that targets included radar, communications, air defense, and drone infrastructure. No updated detailed list of facilities attacked that night has been released so far.

Because US forces are stationed there, Bahrain has been repeatedly targeted by Iranian missile and drone attacks since the fighting began. The kingdom hosts military institutions, including facilities of the US Fifth Fleet. In recent months, the Bahraini military has repeatedly stated that it intercepted large numbers of Iranian aircraft. However, information about the individual attacks often comes from parties to the conflict and can only be partially independently verified.

The latest escalation does not affect Bahrain alone. In recent days, Iranian attacks and US countermeasures have also affected other Gulf states and waters around the Strait of Hormuz. This strait is an important route for global energy trade. Therefore, every new confrontation increases the risk of disruptions to shipping, energy supplies, and the safety of civilians in the region.

There has so far been no diplomatic progress in curbing the violence. In assessing this latest attack, it will be crucial whether Bahrain, the United States, or independent bodies subsequently release specific information about impact sites, damage, or casualties. Until then, Bahrain’s confirmation of the successful interception of the attack and the continuing reciprocal attacks between the United States and Iran remain the focus of the current situation.
