BBC documentary: Ten women make allegations against Jared Leto

Paris – 29 July 2026: A BBC documentary makes serious allegations against US actor and musician Jared Leto. In the film “Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret”, ten women describe encounters with the Oscar-winning actor and frontman of the band Thirty Seconds to Mars. According to the BBC, nine of them are speaking publicly for the first time.

Four women accuse Leto of sexual assault or of attempting to pressure them into sexual acts when, according to their accounts, they were still minors. The alleged incidents are said to have taken place between 2002 and 2016. One person affected states that she was 17 years old at the time of an encounter. Another woman reports repeated sexualized phone calls that allegedly began when she was 16.

According to the BBC, it verified parts of the accounts through messages and photographs, as well as conversations with relatives and acquaintances. The newsroom also reportedly has a confidentiality agreement that one of the women says she received. Two former employees from the band’s circle report in the documentary that young women were repeatedly invited to concerts, backstage areas or private homes.

All of these statements are allegations, not judicial findings. The published reports do not indicate that there is currently a confirmed criminal case against Leto. However, the documentary brings together several accusations concerning the conduct of a significantly older artist toward underage or very young women. Some of those affected say they kept the experiences to themselves for years and blamed themselves.

Leto had already denied allegations by several women of inappropriate sexual behavior in 2025. In a statement to US outlet TMZ at the time, he said he had never sexually assaulted anyone and that the claims were false. According to reports, the actor initially did not respond to inquiries regarding the current BBC investigation. No statement on the allegations made in the documentary was available on Wednesday.

The 54-year-old gained international recognition through films such as “Dallas Buyers Club”, “Blade Runner 2049” and “House of Gucci”. He received an Oscar for his role in “Dallas Buyers Club”. As the singer of Thirty Seconds to Mars, Leto has also had a large fan base for decades. The names of some women were changed in the documentary to protect their privacy. Their accounts form the core of the BBC investigation; Leto denies similar allegations from previous reports.
