BHV Marais ends cooperation with Shein and changes operator

Paris – June 16, 2026: The renowned Paris department store BHV Marais has ended its partnership with the fast fashion brand Shein. The Large Department Store Association (SGM) has transferred the department store’s operations to the current management team led by Karl-Stéphane Cottendin.

The new management’s decision to end the cooperation with Shein is a response to the negative impacts of the fast fashion business model and related environmental issues. Additionally, Shein’s online sales activities, especially the sale of products with controversial content, have also been criticized.

The current management team’s takeover of BHV Marais aims to reposition the department store with a stronger focus on traditional areas such as home decor, DIY supplies, and furniture. This strategic adjustment is intended to help the department store rebuild its connection with customers and reinforce its original business model.

The new management believes that removing Shein from BHV Marais is a necessary measure to restore the department store’s reputation, regain brand partnerships, and win back customers. Previously, several well-known brands had terminated their cooperation with the department store due to the partnership with Shein.

The current management team took over BHV Marais during a challenging economic environment. Despite facing difficulties, the new leadership remains committed to successfully repositioning the department store so that it once again becomes an attractive destination for customers and brands.
