Diane Parry, the last remaining French woman in the main draw of the women's singles, was eliminated in the third round. The young Frenchwoman was defeated by Polish qualifier Maja Chwalinska 3-6, 2-6. Despite a phase of dominant play in rallies, Parry showed too many inaccuracies on her serve.
