The rise in the cost of living affects the fundamental rights of EU citizens, according to a report

Brussels – 11.06.2026: The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) has published its annual report, which examines the impact of the rising cost of living on the fundamental rights of EU citizens. According to the report, the increase in the cost of living in many Member States has led to a worsening of social inequality, affecting especially the most vulnerable population groups. This situation hinders access to basic services and affects the overall well‑being of citizens.

Another important focus of the report is the rise in online hate crime. The FRA notes that the spread of hate speech and discriminatory content online has grown considerably in recent years. This trend represents a serious threat to freedom of expression and social cohesion.
