NBA Finals: The New York Knicks win the second game against Victor Wembanyama's Spurs

San Antonio – 06.06.2026: The NBA Finals series between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs reached an exciting level in the second game. The Knicks won on the road with a score of 108-105, taking a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. The French talent Victor Wembanyama played a dominant role for the Spurs, scoring 29 points, including 22 in the second half of the game. Despite this high-level performance, luck did not smile on him in the final moments.

Wembanyama showed his full power to the home crowd, controlling the game as a great center both offensively and defensively, creating several opportunities for the decisive basket. However, in the last seconds, the 2.23-meter tall Frenchman lost the ball at a crucial moment, allowing the Knicks to maintain possession and close out the game without conceding further scores. A final shot by Wembanyama for the possible victory went just outside the rim.

The Knicks showed a lot of tactical discipline in San Antonio, benefiting from a solid defense that limited New York’s young rising star. At the same time, they relied on a balanced offense led by the experienced Julius Randle, who scored 26 points. The close result and dramatic final phase reflected the balance and tension of this Finals series.

Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau praised his team’s mental strength, which, despite the Spurs’ home advantage, remained calm and won the decisive moments. “We know Victor is an extraordinary player, but we reacted as a team and won the important rebounds,” Thibodeau said after the game.

Wembanyama, considered the hope of French basketball, continues to be the focus of fans and experts. In the next game in New York, the Spurs will have the chance to reduce the series deficit and reopen the Finals. So far, the series has been a passionate duel between emerging young talents and experienced veterans.

The NBA Finals series will now continue with the third game in New York, where the arena will be full of anticipation for the Knicks’ first home victory. Great spectacle and top-level basketball are guaranteed, as well as the question of whether Wembanyama will confirm his leading role in the decisive moments or if the Knicks will further extend their lead.

The clash in the world’s strongest basketball league is now considered one of the most thrilling Finals of recent years, thanks also to the tight balance and extraordinary performances of the French center. The entire basketball world is watching the upcoming games in this exciting series with interest.
