Florian Fiquet uses his reach to raise awareness about climate change

Paris – 07.06.2026: Florian Fiquet, an influencer with more than 143,000 followers on Instagram, is once again focusing on the topic of climate change. From June 8 to 23, 2026, he will trek through Vanoise National Park and the Mont Blanc massif in the French Alps. The goal of this expedition is to document visible changes caused by climate change in these areas and to show them to his followers. With this, Fiquet wants to emphasize how strongly even protected natural areas are affected by climate changes and what protective measures are necessary to preserve these sensitive ecosystems. The action is supported by the initiative MAIF Sport Planète, which is committed to sustainable sports and environmental protection.

Climate change has been leading to a rise in global average temperatures for decades. Europe is warming particularly quickly: the average temperature has already risen by 2.3 °C compared to pre-industrial times. This warming causes more frequent and intense heatwaves, changed precipitation patterns, and the retreat of glaciers and snowfields.

France clearly feels these effects. Since 1947, there have been 51 heatwaves, half of which have occurred since 2011. Between 2014 and 2022, heatwaves have caused nearly 33,000 heat-related deaths. These figures underscore the urgency of enhanced environmental and health policies.

Fiquet’s commitment shows how influencers can use their reach to bring environmental issues to a broad audience. Personal experiences like his hikes offer a compelling way to make the consequences of climate change tangible and encourage discussion. This can contribute to increasing environmental awareness across various layers of society.

In addition to individual initiatives like this, political measures are indispensable. The Paris Agreement adopted in 2015, signed by 195 countries, aims to limit the global temperature increase to below 2 °C, preferably to 1.5 °C compared to pre-industrial times. Despite global engagement, the efforts made so far are insufficient to achieve this goal.

Scientific studies show that human activities such as burning fossil fuels since the Industrial Revolution cause the increase of greenhouse gases and thus significantly contribute to global warming. To counter this development, comprehensive strategies at international, national, and individual levels are needed.

Florian Fiquet’s initiative contributes to raising awareness about climate change and promoting responsible treatment of the environment. Such campaigns can serve as an impetus to strengthen further social movements for climate protection and place the topic more firmly in the spotlight of public and political attention.
