Florian Fiquet uses his reach to raise awareness about climate change

Paris – 06/07/2026: Florian Fiquet, an influencer with more than 143,000 followers on Instagram, is once again focusing on the topic of climate change. From June 8 to 23, 2026, he will undertake a hike through the Vanoise National Park and the Mont Blanc massif in the French Alps. The goal of this expedition is to document the visible changes caused by climate change in these areas and show this reality to his followers. Fiquet wants to highlight how especially affected protected natural areas are by these climate variations and what protective measures are necessary to preserve these sensitive ecosystems. The initiative is supported by MAIF Sport Planète, which promotes sustainable sports and environmental protection.

Climate change has caused an increase in average global temperatures for decades. Europe is warming especially rapidly: the average temperature has already risen by 2.3 °C compared to pre-industrial times. This warming causes more frequent and intense heatwaves, changes in rainfall patterns, and the retreat of glaciers and snowfields.

France clearly feels these effects. Since 1947, it has experienced 51 heatwaves, half of them since 2011. Between 2014 and 2022, the heatwaves caused nearly 33,000 heat-related deaths. These figures underline the urgency of strengthening environmental and health policies.

Fiquet’s commitment shows how influencers can use their reach to bring environmental topics closer to a wide audience. Personal experiences like his hikes offer an illustrative way to make the impact of climate change tangible and encourage debate. This could help increase environmental awareness in different social sectors.

In addition to individual initiatives like this, political actions are essential. The Paris Agreement, adopted in 2015 and signed by 195 countries, aims to limit the global temperature increase to less than 2 °C, preferably 1.5 °C, compared to the pre-industrial era. Despite the global commitment, the efforts made so far are insufficient to reach this goal.

Scientific studies show that human activities such as burning fossil fuels since the Industrial Revolution have caused the increase of greenhouse gases and contribute significantly to global warming. To counteract this trend, comprehensive strategies are required at the international, national, and individual levels.

Florian Fiquet’s initiative helps to raise awareness about climate change and promote responsible environmental management. Campaigns like this can serve as momentum to strengthen other social movements in defense of the climate and give this topic greater prominence in public opinion and politics.
