Four Men Injured in Stabbing Near Covent Garden

London – 05.08.2026: Four men were injured in a stabbing near Covent Garden on Wednesday afternoon. Emergency services found the victims on Endell Street, close to the theatres, restaurants and shops of London’s West End. Police cordoned off the area for their initial investigation.

According to the Metropolitan Police, the injured men are aged 34, 39, 42 and 52. Paramedics initially treated them at the scene before taking them to a specialist trauma centre. Police and ambulance services did not initially provide further details about the severity of their injuries or their condition.

A 47-year-old woman was arrested. Police said she is suspected of possessing an offensive weapon and assault. Initial statements did not indicate whether she was still carrying the suspected weapon when she was arrested. Her identity was not disclosed, nor was any possible relationship to the four injured men. The presumption of innocence applies until a final conviction.

The London Ambulance Service said it had deployed several emergency personnel to the scene. All four patients were taken to the specialist hospital. The number of injured people was revised during the operation: authorities initially reported three victims, but police later confirmed that four men had suffered stab wounds. During major incidents, initial information can change as ambulance services and police combine their findings.

Endell Street is located in a densely built-up part of central London between Covent Garden and Bloomsbury. The surrounding area includes theatres, shops, hospitality venues and medical facilities. The street is heavily used during the day by residents, workers and visitors. Road closures and emergency vehicles were therefore noticeable beyond the immediate scene of the incident. Authorities initially did not say whether the operation caused longer disruptions to traffic or nearby facilities.

Investigators initially did not comment on how the attack unfolded, the type of suspected weapon or a possible motive. It also remained unclear whether those involved knew each other before the incident or whether other people were involved. The information released so far therefore does not allow for a reliable assessment of whether the attack was targeted or arose from a prior confrontation.
