Paris – 16 June 2026: French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced today that the French government will end its partnership with the US company Palantir. This decision was made as part of a large-scale strategy to strengthen the country’s digital sovereignty. At the same time, an investment package worth 655 million euros will be allocated for the development of artificial intelligence (AI).
Lecornu announced the decision to end cooperation with Palantir in a video address. He emphasized that France cannot allow new strategic dependencies in the digital sphere. It also became known that the Direction Générale de la Sécurité Intérieure (DGSI), the French domestic security service, will terminate its contract with Palantir and will henceforth cooperate with the French company ChapsVision.
Under the “France 2030” program, 655 million euros will be invested in the country’s artificial intelligence infrastructure. These funds are intended to support computing capacity, scientific research, as well as businesses and industrial sectors in the AI field. The aim is to strengthen France’s digital sovereignty and increase independence from foreign technology providers.
Another step in this strategy is the introduction of an AI-based assistant for around one million public-sector employees. This digital assistant, developed in cooperation with the French company Mistral AI, is intended to support civil servants in their daily work and improve the efficiency of public administration. The tool will be deployed following successful testing with 10,000 civil servants in various ministries.
These measures reflect France’s ambition to take a leading position in artificial intelligence and ensure the country’s digital independence. By supporting domestic companies and reducing dependence on foreign technology providers, the competitiveness of the French economy is to be strengthened.
