France Ends Partnership with Palantir and Invests 655 Million Euros in Artificial Intelligence

Paris – 16.06.2026: France’s Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced today that the French government will end its partnership with the US company Palantir. This decision is part of a comprehensive strategy to strengthen the country’s digital sovereignty. At the same time, an investment package of 655 million euros will be provided for the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The decision to terminate the collaboration with Palantir was announced by Lecornu in a video message. He emphasized that France cannot accept new strategic dependencies in the digital sector. It was also revealed that the Direction Générale de la Sécurité Intérieure (DGSI), the French domestic intelligence agency, is terminating its contract with Palantir and will in future cooperate with the French company ChapsVision.

As part of the “France 2030” program, the 655 million euros will be invested in the country’s AI infrastructure. These funds are intended to support computing capacity, research, as well as companies and industrial sectors in the field of Artificial Intelligence. The goal is to strengthen France’s digital sovereignty and increase independence from foreign technology providers.

Another step in this strategy is the introduction of an AI-based assistant for the approximately one million employees in the public service. This digital assistant, developed in collaboration with the French AI firm Mistral AI, is intended to support civil servants in their daily tasks and increase the efficiency of public administration. The deployment of this tool follows successful tests with 10,000 civil servants in various ministries.

These measures reflect France’s ambition to take a leading role in Artificial Intelligence and secure the country’s digital independence. By promoting domestic companies and reducing dependence on foreign technology providers, the competitiveness of the French economy is to be strengthened.

The decision to end the partnership with Palantir comes amid growing concerns about dependence on US technology companies. In recent years, several European countries have taken similar steps to enhance their digital sovereignty and maintain control over their data and technologies.

The announced investments and strategic decisions are expected to have far-reaching impacts on the French technology sector and could serve as a model for other European countries seeking to strengthen their digital independence.

The implementation of these measures will be closely monitored in the coming months and years to assess their success and impact on France’s digital landscape.
