Helmets and High-Visibility Vests Now Mandatory for E-Scooters in Greater Paris

Paris - 08/08/2026: Anyone travelling in Greater Paris on an e-scooter, Segway or hoverboard has been required to wear a protective helmet and reflective clothing or equipment since Friday, August 7. The order issued by the police prefecture applies in the capital and the three departments of the Petite Couronne: Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne. The requirement applies at all times of day, regardless of visibility conditions.The regional rules therefore go beyond France's general traffic regulations.
