Paris – 16 June 2026: French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced today that the French government will end its partnership with the US company Palantir. This decision is part of an overall strategy to strengthen the country’s digital sovereignty. At the same time, an investment package worth €655 million will be allocated for the development of artificial intelligence (AI).
The decision to end cooperation with Palantir was announced by Lecornu in a video message. He stressed that France cannot accept new strategic dependencies in the digital sector. It was also announced that the Direction Générale de la Sécurité Intérieure (DGSI), France’s domestic intelligence agency, will terminate its contract with Palantir and work with the French company ChapsVision in the future.
Under the “France 2030” programme, the €655 million will be invested in the country’s AI infrastructure. These funds are intended to support computing capacity, research, as well as businesses and industrial sectors in the field of artificial intelligence. The aim is to strengthen France’s digital sovereignty and increase independence from foreign technology providers.
A further step in this strategy is the introduction of an AI-based assistant for around one million public-sector employees. This digital assistant, developed in cooperation with the French AI company Mistral AI, will assist civil servants with their daily tasks and increase the efficiency of public administration. The introduction of such a tool follows successful tests with 10,000 civil servants in various ministries.
