Lozère: 30-Year-Old Municipal Guard Placed Under Supervision – Suspected of Possession and Distribution of Child Pornography

Mende – 16.06.2026: A 30-year-old municipal guard from Lozère is suspected of having possessed and distributed dozens of images of underage children with sexual content over several years. The investigations led to the filing of charges and the placement of the accused under supervision.

The investigations were triggered by tips from the public pointing to suspicious activities by the municipal guard. During the search of his private electronic devices, investigators found numerous images showing children in sexual poses. This discovery led to his arrest and subsequent indictment.

In France, possession and distribution of child pornography are strictly penalized. According to Article 227-23 of the French Penal Code, the production, storage, or distribution of images depicting minors engaged in sexual acts can be punished with up to five years in prison and a fine of up to 75,000 euros. Even stricter penalties apply for victims under 15 years of age.

After his arrest, the accused was temporarily detained and then placed under supervision. This measure is intended to allow further investigations and to ensure that the accused cannot commit further offenses or destroy evidence during the ongoing proceedings.

The investigations continue to determine the full extent of the municipal guard’s offenses. Authorities emphasize the importance of cooperation with the public in combating such serious crimes and call for suspicious activities to be reported immediately.

This case highlights the ongoing efforts of the French judiciary and law enforcement agencies in the fight against child sexual exploitation. In recent years, several similar cases have been uncovered involving individuals from various professions, including officials, accused of possession and distribution of child pornography. These incidents have led to increased controls and preventive measures to prevent such offenses and hold perpetrators accountable.

The investigations in this case are being led by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Mende, working closely with the Lozère Gendarmerie. Further details are expected to be released in the coming weeks as the investigations progress and new information becomes available.

Authorities appeal to the public to remain vigilant and immediately inform the relevant authorities if such crimes are suspected. Only through close cooperation between citizens and law enforcement can society be protected from such serious offenses.
